The webpage "Θαλάσσιο Πάρκο Βορείων Σποράδων" and the application ThalassioParko was created by the second grade students of Alonissos High School,

The team’s goal is to create an application which will provide in a simple way the complex scheme of National Marine Park of Alonnisos and Northern Sporades.
The application is connected to a map built with Google tools, which shows all the information about what is allowed and what is prohibited in the Marine Park, e.g. its boundaries, separating zones, restrictions regarding access, fishing, diving, spearfishing etc.
Information about beaches in the area of the Marine Park have been added to the map with a short description and pictures. Moreover, the map shows paths that lead to well- hidden beaches.
The idea of the application came up during the students’ participation in activities organized by the Thalassa Foundation in the Marine Park. The Thalassa Foundation contributes to the preservation and protection of the Marine Park.
The design and creation of the map and application was made by team members.
The effort was completed with the help and support of the organizations:
- Management Body of the National Marine Park of Alonissos and Northern Sporades,
- MOm and
- Thalassa Foundation.
The application was created using the MIT App Inventor application. The required knowledge for the use of App Inventor was acquired through the participation of the Alonissos High School in the program “STEMpowering Youth”.
